The Normally Perspective
June 14th, 2010
Dave rode in the MS 150 this weekend! GO DAVE! Actually, he ended up riding 158 miles: 100 the first day (6:36) and then 58 miles the second day (3:30).
I’m so proud of him!
But I was also very bored. Saturday I went for a run, and laid by pool and started a new book.
But then boredom overtook me, and I lounged around the apartment with Dexter counting down the minutes until Sunday morning…
Why??
Because I took a road trip to Cleveland to visit Ashley!!
Ashley is the personality behind the Edible Perspective. And when I discovered her blog and all of it’s nut buttery goodness, I knew it was blog-love at first read.
Ashley is also breaking into the barefoot running, too and has been the one to inspire me to commit myself more to the transition.
Thanks, Ash!
We meandered around Cleveland and took pictures of our feet. We only got one comment from a stranger…he said that the Classic Vibram FiveFingers are excellent!
And she took me to this park and where we got to visit a castle! I momentarily transported myself to King Arthur days, but I brought myself back pretty quickly. I wasn’t ready for Ashley to see that side of me yet.
I waited until we were on a hike in our FiveFingers around the park to comment on how the scenery reminded me of the battle of Amon Hen at the end of “The Fellowship of Rings”. I kept my eyes peeled for any Orcs, but alas, we were safe.
Actually, my FiveFingers kind of remind me of hobbit feet, sans hair.
ANYHOW. I didn’t subject Ashley to too much of my Middle-Earth ramblings, but we did talk a lot about feet and food and other life happenings. Sometimes it was freaky how much we had in common! I felt like I was talking to a friend that I’ve known forever!
Ahhhh, it was such a refreshing day!
When I left, Ashley sent me off with a RMCAB & J sandwhich (roasted maple cinnamon almond butter and jelly). It was divine.
She also got me some goodies!
A basil plant, hemp peppermint soap (which I hear is an all-purpose cleaner—including toothpaste!), and dark chocolate nutty bits from Trader Joe’s, which I ripped into as I drove the Ohio turnpike.
Thanks for the awesome time, friend!!

Want to hear something else that is awesome??!!
DAVE GOT ME TICKETS TO SEE PAUL MCCARTNEY!
Yes, THE Paul McCartney of THE Beatles. I was born in the wrong generation. I have been obsessed with the Beatles since I was 12. When I say that I know every word to every song, I’m not exaggerating. And while most girls were dreaming of Justin Timberlake and Zac Hanson, I was dreaming of Paul McCartney.
This is a dream come true.
The concert is in August, but I’m already working on my Beatlemania screams.
I have no pride.
Anyways, I’m off to make my Beatles’ sweater to go with my knee highs and saddle oxfords.
