Harry Potter and the Green Monster
June 21st, 2010
I know I kind of skipped Father’s day on the blog. For that matter, I also skipped Mother’s day. I think it’s safe to say that my parents aren’t my most loyal readers. In fact I don’t think my dad reads my blog at all. Well, except that one time I saw him looking over my mom’s shoulder as she read through a post. But really, my parents are my closest friends, and I don’t need to shout it on the blog—they know already!
Anyhow, I wanted to share with you all that my dad his very first green monster on Father’s day!
“Happy Father’s day, Dad! Here’s some liquid spinach!”
Surprisingly, he actually liked it.
***I have to add here that my dad shares my unusual obsession for all things Harry Potter. And we both read through the entire series once a year. And talk about it.
But don’t worry, we read other things. Deeper things, although Harry Potter is very deep if you are careful enough. In fact I did a whole project on the Biblical Symbolism in Harry Potter in college.
I also get my love for Theology from my dad, too.
And baseball. And sleeping with fans on. And chocolate. And pistachios.
I am, indeed, my father’s daughter.***
So how did I get my dad, Mr. Meat-and-Potatoes (okay, this one thing we don’t have in common), to drink a green monster?
I told him it was Polyjuice Potion.
I always said that I’m the Muggle version of Hermione Granger…
So into my cauldron I brew two large handfuls of baby spinach, half a frozen banana, 1/2 cup frozen blueberries, 1/2 cup calcium fortified Orange Juice, one large spoonful of plain greek yogurt, and ice.
Stir 3 times clockwise, add eye of newt, and stir 1 and1/2 times counter clockwise. Let simmer until the next full moon.
Drink to health and energy and the boy who lived!!
Mischief managed!
Does your family eat like you? Do you make them funny things like green monsters, nut butters and overnight oats?
I’m surprised, but my family is pretty open to some of my “crazy” things!
