Summertime Memories
June 29th, 2010
I love summertime. It teleports me back to my childhood and tonight was no exception.
I went for a run and enjoyed watching the adults do lawn work, the children ride their bikes, teenagers lurking on porches and the fireflies twinkling.
Plus, I was in my FiveFingers, so I felt as though I was frolicking like a little child. Only in a grownup body, with expensive “shoes”, wearing a GPS that I’m 100% sure wasn’t affordable for the general public 15+ years ago. But that’s beside the point. I had a wonderful childhood, so they are all happy memories.
Another thing that makes me feel like a child? This sore throat and ear ache (?!) that are creeping up on me. What 24 year old gets an ear ache??!!
I. Must. Not. Get. Sick.
Whoever can tell me what to do with these to make them tasty gets a prize:
And by prize, I mean my sincerest gratitude.
Amazing Grass exercises my gag reflex. Ah, my gag reflex, another prominent memory of my childhood.
For now I’m relying on my trusty Emergen-C.
So why must I not get sick?
Well, my cousin Jessica, whom I haven’t seen for 4 years, is coming to visit me tomorrow!
Summertime visits from my cousins who lived overseas are another fond memory!
I’m going to see if Jessica wants to have a lemonade stand and then spend all of our earnings on penny candy!
I bet we could make a pretty penny if we laced the lemonade with Amazing Grass.
Hmmmm…that might help my cold!!!
