Let me introduce myself
June 9th, 2010
Hi, my name is Abby, I’m a barefoot newbie and I have sore calves.
And ankles…and rear…
Not bad pains, but I am working muscles that have been atrophying since I put my very first pair of sneakers on my feet. I really noticed how weak my ankles are. Those muscles are going to be strengthened now that I don’t have shoes to stabilize my legs!
Imagine that, muscles being used to stabilized the body instead of some manmade contraption. The horror!

Hi my name is Abby, and I didn’t feel like eating dinner tonight.
So I slurped it.
And chased it with some marshmallows.
A very balanced meal if you ask me!
This GM had Spinach, 1/2 frozen banana, handful frozen mango, orange juice, some ice. Topped with granola!
I love my GMs with juice—not so crazy about ones with milk. I have to be in the right mood.

Hi, my name is Abby, and my husband turned me into a cheapskate.
Instead of buying Larabars, I made them!
Peanut Butter and Jelly “Abby”bars
-1.5 c whole, pitted dates
-1.5 c dried strawberries (you could do other dried if you want)
-1 c unsalted peanuts
-Salt
Grind peanuts in a food processor (don’t let it grind into butter, but try to get rid of big chunks). Set aside. Grind the dates and fruit in the food processor. I had trouble grinding the strawberries, so I threw them into boiling water briefly to soften them up (you’ll need more nuts the mushier your fruit). Mix the fruit and nuts by hand and add salt to taste. Spread out and cut into squares. Stick in the fridge!
A very special thanks to Rebekah for some recipe-guidance!
These really do taste like a PB&J sammie…which is good because I’ve had one with lunch everyday for the past week. And I might have had one for breakfast, too.
What’s been your favorite lunch (or breakfast) lately?

my calves kill from normal running, i can’t imagine the pain while running in the vibrams/barefoot!
I want some of these! It sounds like too much work for me. My mil never got me a food processor. You are lucy…providentially, that is! love ya!
lucky
ohhhh my friend you are very much going to like my next post
favorite lunch/breakfast? can’t help you there. i had roasted okra and ketchup this morning for breakfast though…. random, but exactly what i was craving!
Marshmallows are my kind of chaser!!
I am impressed!! Your own larabars? I actually don’t usually like lara’s, but I’d love to try yours!
No contest tie for favourite breakfast is either Oatmeal or a Green Monster. Lunch on the other hand right now I’m on a wrap kick, which is good that I’ll use up all the wraps before the go stale lol.
I love the larabars! They really are expensive. I will definetly have to give them a try, thanks for sharing the How To. Any idea how to go about making a Cliff bar?
Ciao
Your “Abby” bars look delicious! Peanut butter and jelly is the best…why don’t I eat the sammies more often?!
My favorite lunch at the moment is monster-sized salads. Whenever the weather gets warm I seriously CRAVE salads! In fact, I think I may just have to get one for lunch today
The peanut butter/jelly bars look delicious, can I name them after me!
I am so intrigued by this barefoot running!
Everything looks super yummy!
I’m glad barefoot running is going well for you. I made a parfait for breakfast last weekend and it was divine! Yogurt, strawberries and granola layered in a pretty glass. Mmmm delicious!
I need to try a GM with juice. Oddly, I’ve never tried it that way before!
I’m so interested in barefoot running and it’s awesome that it will strengthen some muscles. i could definitely use that.
I’m on a smoothie kick too. I’m trying all sorts of new protein powders to help.
I love having smoothies occasionally for dinner or lunch…or breakfast! I am looking at it very envious because my stomach is just not calling for those right now bc I don’t feel well. Can’t wait to get back there!
I keep hearing of everyone going to barefoot running….I’m just too attached to my cute shoes still
That recipe looks so yummy, my kids might even eat it!
you’re so welcome girl!!! yours sound delicious!
and ps – thanks for your sweet comment the other day. i always look forward to hearing from you!
