The Right Foot
June 28th, 2010
First of all, I’d like to wish a very happy 30th anniversary to my two heroes, my mom and dad!
I love you guys and thanks for being such a godly example of marriage for me and David. Not to mention the overflowing well of support and wisdom. Time and time again I think I will drain you two dry, but it has never happened!
And speaking of wonderful marriages…
I was tweeting last night about my perpetual battle to wake up to run before work:
(What can I say, every philosopher loves a good If/Then statement)
Well, Dave, my wonderful husband, in a moment of self sacrifice said, "ok, that’s it. 5:15am you will be out of bed to run. I PROMISE". What a husband, right??!!
So did it happen?
Well…
That’s right. Four miserable, sweaty, slow miles completed by 6:15 (43:00 minutes–not my fastest by any means, but hey, I was out the door at 5:30). Dave joined me for 3 of them. And unfortunately, he enjoyed the early morning workout a lot more than I did and is already planning the next one.
My persistence ALWAYS gets me in trouble. When will I ever learn?
So, seeing that I began my morning on the "right" foot, I had a great day…
It began by re-editing an article that I had already edited to my satisfaction but lost it in the binary black hole that is my netbook.
I love writing, so of course I enjoyed that. Who wouldn’t want to edit the same article twice?
And then, while trying to call some students, I accidentally called 911 and had a nice conversation with Mr. Dispatch trying to explain that I was trying to call long distance so after dialing 9 + 1, I left my finger on the 1 just a little too long.
Maybe next time I’ll just skip the run and drink the coffee to keep my reflexes at their best. Don’t get me wrong, Mr. Dispatch, I enjoyed our conversation, but I can’t be using work time for personal calls.
So needless to say, by the time I arrived home I was looking for comfort.
In the form of food, of course.
(That would be strawberries in a Dark Chocolate Dreams PB Sauce {just add almond milk}. Best. Dessert. Ever)
And entertainment.
And maybe some retail therapy…
(I wanted an SLR, but I break all cameras… so I went for something in between)
And tonight I promise to finish my night on the right foot—the FiveFinger clad right foot—for the first run of week 2 of my transition plan!
What are the comforts that you seek after a hard day? Do you have a favorite comfort food?
Obviously, I’ve got a thing for macaroni and cheese!

30 years is incredible. Happy Anniversary to your parents!
Ohh, favorite comfort food. Anything carb related, mostly in the form of cake and bread.
Agreed. CARBS ARE GOOOOD!
Happy anniversary to your parents!! And great job on waking up! It gets easier – I promise!
It might get easier, but I doubt I’ll give it any more opportunities to prove that it is easier. Unless Dave makes me (possible…)
way to go Dave!! YOu got your wife out of bed to run….or maybe it was the hubs/starbucks combo. You need a shirt that says “will run for starbucks” hehe!
Happy anniversary to your cute parents.
I like that idea. Or that says “Will run because my husband makes me”.
Don’t feel too bad. I called 911 when I was 8 by accident. I got hysterical, started balling, and hung up on them so they thought I was being tortured or something
Hahahah! One time, when my husband was little, he “shot” his babystter with a toy gun and she pretended to be hurt…so he called 911!!! You little boys are a sensitive breed!
What a good hubby!! And I’m super jealous of (1) your starbucks and (2) your camera
Thanks!! But neither purchase was necessary. What can I say, I’m bad with money
Happy Anniversary to your parents and to my parents, both celebrating thier 30th.
That is so cool!!! Happy anniversary to your parents!
My comfort food is definitely cereal! A big bowl of peanut butter Puffins with banana slices and vanilla almond milk. And I almost always go back for a second pour of cereal…you know, just because there’s some milk left in the bowl and I don’t want to waste it!!
Hahah I think cereal is my hubands too! He does the same thing–can’t waste the milk!
Ohhh nice retail therapy!! I can’t justify buying a nice camera although I think it’d be cool to have one.
Comfort food…ice cream!! That’s probably why I eat it every night when I get home from work…
Ice cream is on my list…but e discomfort it causes doesn’t make it worth it. Booo!!
PS I couldn’t justify it either. But I did it anyway!
Good job on waking up! Like Jessica said, it does get easier. I’m on summer break, but plan on getting up early to run with my hubby once a week. My morning runs are usually slower, but I don’t mind. Can’t always be speedy!
My comfort foods are usually bread and pasta.
I don’t wannnnt it to get easier… I want to sleeeep! But I have a feeling that I’ve created a monster in my husband and I’ll be gettin up to run with him, too!
Though the day may have started a little rough, it looks like it ended well. A new camera! How fun! And when I need some comfort… it used to be ice-cream, but now I go for banana soft serve. Definitely with peanut butter, and dark chocolate mixed in. I always love a good reward system as well.
Ohhh that sounds so good! I think I’ll try to make it sometime soon!!!
Congrats on getting up! I’m super impressed, because I can NEVER manage to do it.
And I’ve definitely accidentally called 911 before… awkward!
Mac and cheese is the ultimate comfort food. Period.
Hahaha Kacy, we can be so much alike sometimes! I love it! I miss you!!
Happy Anniversary to your parents!
I bribe myself into running before work with Starbucks too
It’s really motivating!
Surprisingly it is!! I even have my own espresso machine. But that’s more work. I’d rather pay someone. I wonder if I could pay someone to run in the mornings for me too???
I loooove the present you treated yourself too! So fun!
Hehehe Thanks! I can’t wait till it gets here!
Thanks honey for the annivesary well wishes. You are one of the joys of our marriage. Ly. Dad.
Maybe if I start bribing myself with coffee, I’ll get my morning workouts in.
I think we should have a 6am twitter roll call to get people up and working out in the morning. Though, since my friend banging on my door at 6am didn’t work for me, not sure how twitter will work…
Also, when I got a new camera, I wanted an SLR, but wasn’t sure how long I was gonna stick with blogging (this was last November), so I went with a suped up point and click too, and I LOVE it. It is great for everything I’ve needed.
