It’s What’s For Dinner
November 10th, 2010
With all of this hype about Mama Pea’s peanut butter cookie dough balls, I spent my lunch hour in the store getting the necessary ingredients.
However, I told myself that I had to run 6 miles before I made them. Because I knew what would happen: I would come home, make the right away, eat the dough and at least a half dozen of them, start blogging about how amazing they are, then decide that I wasn’t really up for running.
So when I got home, I quickly donned on my running apparel, spent some time looking for my reflective arm bands (safety comes before even dough balls), and I was out the door! Nothing gets me running that quickly except the promise of junk food.
I ended up running 5.5 (I didn’t have my Garmin, but I gmap-ed my route), but whatever. Close enough. I HAD DOUGH BALLS TO MAKE!
So when I came home, I mixed them up, popped them in the oven, ate a few handfuls of frozen peas as I smelled the intoxicating aroma (seriously, great snack to keep you from eating the dough!).
Then I ate the dough balls for dinner.
Next time I will know that in addition to a six mile run, I will add “and eat a healthy dinner” when bribing myself with baked goods.
Gosh, on Monday I bought two candy bars, and today I’m eating dough balls for dinner! I have to clean up my act before it starts affecting my energy level, running…and before I end up looking like the Doughboy!
WOOHOO!
What’s the “best” (and by best I mean nutritionally worst) dinner you’ve have lately? Can you beat my dough balls?!

About a month ago, I literally ate a pint of Ben & Jerry’s Mint Chocolate Cookie Ice Cream for dinner.
No Joke.
On one hand, I really enjoyed it. It had been AGES since I had eaten Ben & Jerry’s anything. On the other hand, I had meant to just eat one serving and then have real dinner later…you know…a dinner with half the calories and three times the nutritional value.
But what the heck. It was delicious!
Haha! Love this! I just got back from Target getting the necessary ingredients so I can make them tomorrow! Excited, but nervous to be left alone in a house with them!
hahhaha well we have all had nights like that!
Does nutella count as dinner? Sometime james and I just like it plain wrapped in a tortilla and warmed up. so good!
I’m not really a baker but lately, I’ve tried my hand at it and all of a sudden, I’m eating baked goods around the clock. I’m afraid it will continue through the holidays. I need to make a batch of these!
Ah, could be worse! One of my genius tweets once said, “Who needs dinner when you can have beer?” At least it makes me a cheap date.
That being said, baked goods sound better than beer…
last night after dinner I had 2 hershey bars, 2 rice krispy treats (big ones) and Cheez its!
I am dying to make these. And also a little scared.
I had MamaPea’s pumpkin gingersnaps for dinner last night.
The other night I had half a loaf of banana bread – it was so good!
yum yum yum! dough balls are delightful!! I would have done the exact same thing!
I made myself cheese fries for dinner on Monday night and they were incredible! I’ve been dying to try those balls though!
I need to make these. Now.
In college, I used to eat banana, chocolate frozen yogurt and frosted flakes all mixed together for dinner. That is the dinner of champions.
