Freezing!
December 5th, 2010
Greetings from a very chilly Pittsburgh.
I considered going for a run, then I saw that the “feels like” temperature is 13 F, and reconsidered.
I know that I say I love to run in the cold, and it’s true that I do. It’s just that the circumstances of that run have to be right. I’m finally getting over this cold and I’ve been painting non-stop since Friday afternoon, so at this point I am pretty wiped out. A run in the freeeeezing cold is not happening. Falling asleep on the couch during the Steelers’ game is more likely.
Plus, marathon training will begin soon, so I think a few weeks of light running is a-ok. At least that’s what I’m telling myself to cope. I only ran 2x last week.
I’ll survive, I think.
Normally, I’d have a barefoot essentials post for you, but at this time, I don’t have anything to write! I need to buy some Injinji socks before I trek out into weather like this in my Vibram FiveFingers.
Well, I’ve been trying to be healthier in an attempt to Unstuff This Turkey (Take 2), but it’s hard! It seems that pizza is the easiest food to eat when you’re painting all day and there’s a delicious pizza shop a block from your new house! But, yesterday my parents came out to help us paint and I made Mama Pea’s “Minnie”strone soup in the Crockpot for lunch. Convenient, healthy and tasty. Win, win, WIN!
It fueled us sufficiently for our tasks…like the kitchen.
The kitchen was painted like a Tuscan kitchen or Italian restaurant…EVEN THE CEILING! The trim was maroon, too. It was dark and really made the room look smaller than it is.

We painted it a light green with pure white trim. It is so bright and happy now! I LOVE it and can’t wait to decorate it!
Tonight for dinner I made my tomato basil quiche. First meal cooked in my beautiful kitchen!!
Not the most healthy, but I had all the ingredients and it’s homemade with organic ingredients—could be worse! And I served it with a side of green beans.
With planning, it’s really easy to be healthy in the midst of moving chaos. It’s a bit inconvenient, but I’m hoping to stick with it this week. Next weekend Dave and I will be in the house, so it’ll be easier to make good choices.
Yet considering how tasty that pizza is, I wouldn’t really call it a “bad” choice! l
Do you plan your meals ahead of time, especially when you’ll be busy? Or do you wing it?
I’m off to find some more blankets! I can’t get warm!!!!
