One Fine Day

It’s been one year since I met two strangers at a small restaurant in Pittsburgh. Two strangers that I met through blogging.

Two strangers that quickly become to dear friends.

And this morning we were reunited at the same restaurant and the same table. This morning began with a breakfast date with Caitlin and Jessica and the Square Cafe.

I just love them! Time flies when we’re together. There’s just so much to talk about and not nearly enough time or coffee (or water) to let us discuss all that we want to.

Oh, and I think the wait staff was about to kick us out.

After breakfast, Jessica and I made a quick jaunt to Trader Joe’s. I picked up what Dave would call the “essentials” (milk, eggs, frozen burritos), but the only “essentials” I picked up were mini chocolate peanut butter cups and these little guys:

You see, right after I stashed my groceries in the back seat of my car, I went on that 8 mile run I never got to last week. I ran through Shadyside and Oakland and the sidewalks were nicely cleared.

While I don’t have stories like Susan, I have to say that I saw quite a character on my run. There was this older gentleman dressed in a purple wind-breaker jogging suit jogging around a north Oakland block carrying a thick, black, wiffle ball bat. For protection? I don’t know. But it did deter me from laughing out loud the TWO times I passed him.

I stashed 4 gummies in my running pouch along with my phone and my keys and ate 3 of them around mile 6. I don’t think I needed them, but I wanted them! ;)

And when I came home, I got to watch the Pens finally beat the Bruins.

Friends, long runs, hockeythat’s a recipe for the perfect day.

Now we’re watching the Steelers and Pitt Basketball is on tonight. It’s quite a day for Pittsburgh sports!

Let’s go Pitt! Let’s go Stillers!

What’s the strangest thing you’ve seen on your runs or when you’re out and about in the city?

There’s a guy who rides a huge unicycle on the trail I usually run on. And he actually rode in the MS 150 with David this past June. It’s nuts.

Oh, and one time in college I was eating ice cream on a bench and there was a homeless woman sitting next to me. I heard something like water spilling and I noticed that her pants were down and she was peeing on the bench. Obviously I didn’t stick around to offer her toilet paper.

P.S. I’ll be back tomorrow with a run down of my exercising this week and post next week’s. It seems to help.

P.P.S. Thanks for all you Pittsburghers who commented on my last post! I didn’t know there were so many bloggers here. I’m excited at the potential of more blogger friends in the area!! :D
