This morning I was struck with an awful thought: what if I ever sleep-tweeted?! Wouldn’t that be embarrassing? Wouldn’t it be ridiculous if your twitter feed held some gem like “Cary Grant and I are having dinner with some zombies tonight at the restaurant in the Indian Ocean.”
Hey, it could happen.
The sleep-tweeting part, not the Cary Grant bit.
Anyhow, instead of being greeted by ridiculous tweets this morning, I was greeted by freezing temps, 25 mph winds with gusts up to 40 mph.
Long run: delayed.
Good news is that now I have time to get ready for that dinner in the Indian Ocean.
But before my date, let’s talk about my challenge.
I failed at it. At least this week I did. Last week I did well until the weekend of Valentine’s day indulgences.
But compared to my Unstuff This Turkey Challenge, my heart was not in it.
There are a couple things that are different this time around:
- I’m training for a marathon now. Hellooooo calorie burn…
- I’m doing strength workouts now and increased muscle means increased appetite!
- It’s that time of the month.
But fro-yo isn’t junk—the toppings I put in on it were, though. It was amazing.
One improvement I have noticed is that I am neither eating nor craving junk throughout the day at work. That’s huge! Usually I’m the first one hitting up the candy dish or the cookies, or whatever goodies a co-worker brought in. Not the past two weeks! I kind of impressed myself.
But then I would come home and eat 3 chocolate covered strawberry cake truffles and then stare blankly into the refrigerator wondering what’s for dinner.
I think I want to keep it up though. Keep up fending off mindlessly munching and work on eating sweets in moderation. That’s right: moderation. By declaring the “no junk" rule under the circumstances listed above, I think I was just setting myself up for failure.
So I’ll keep at it. Remembering that my body needs more calories than normal, but still try to find ways to make those calories count—and make another batch of cake truffles in the meantime.
