Dress Help
June 7th, 2011
I need your help!
You know that I am in a wedding this weekend. I have an amazing bridesmaid dress that I adore, but I’m stumped on what to wear to the rehearsal dinner!
Well, actually it’s the rehearsal that has me stumped. The dinner is a cookout and pool party, so I’ll be donning a bathing suit for that.
So I bought a dress this weekend and I don’t know how I feel about it. I have narrowed it down to two options so I want your input. If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times: I was raised with boys and I have no fashion sense. I’m broken or something! I don’t usually even talk about clothes on the blog because they aren’t important to me. But I thought today would be a fun little game!
Disclaimer: I took these pictures after a workout so just look at the dresses, ok? Thanks.
Dress #1
The ruffle has us all stumped. Love it or hate it? The colors are great and I love the cut, but the ruffle? Does it make it or break it?
…Dexter says hi!
Dress #2
This is an old favorite. It’s a steal from White House Black Market and I wore it for my own rehearsal dinner 3 years ago when Dave and I got hitched.
So what’s your opinion: Dress #1 or Dress #2?
One’s safe the others a little wild…

Day 18
My beliefs?! That’s too much for one post. I believe a lot things. I believe that the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, I believe that when you pluck a gray hair more grow back in its place…
I’m assuming this question is meant to go a little deeper than that. So, since I can’t really articulate it much better than the great Apostles’ Creed, I will share that:
- I believe in God the Father Almighty,
- Maker of heaven and earth:
- And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord,
- Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,
- Born of the Virgin Mary,
- Suffered under Pontius Pilate,
- Was crucified, dead, and buried:
- He descended into hell;
- The third day he rose again from the dead;
- He ascended into heaven,
- And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
- From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
- I believe in the Holy Ghost;
- The holy catholic Church;
- The Communion of Saints;
- The Forgiveness of sins;
- The Resurrection of the body,
- And the Life everlasting.
- Amen.
I believe every word of that. But, I should add that I am not Catholic and when it says “I believe in the…holy catholic church” is means “universal.”
If you’re wondering about my denomination, I am a member of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). The PCA is “faithful to the Scriptures, true to the Reformed faith, and obedient to the Great Commission of Jesus Christ.” So far, my experience at the church has proved that statement to be entirely true.
I do not believe that there is a perfect denomination, but I do feel that the PCA church has the best expression of the truths of Scriptures. I have attended many, many churches. I look for a church that is above all committed to Scripture and the glory God. Other denominations that I have been to and, for the most part, agree with: Orthodox Presbyterian Church and the Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America.
But, like I said, no denomination is perfect. I am not some do-or-die Presbyterian. In fact, there are Presbyterian churches that I strongly stand against. If you’ve been reading my blog for awhile you’ll know that i listen to sermons on long runs. Those sermons are from the Capitol Hill Baptist Church in DC which is a Southern Baptist church. I find them also committed to Scriptures, true to the Reformed faith and obedient to the Great Commission of Jesus Christ. We differ on only smaller, relatively inconsequential issues.
Again, no denomination is perfect, but it is important to search for a Church that best expresses the truths of the Bible.
