The Event of the Summer
June 12th, 2011
I know you are all dying of anticipation to hear about my weekend. And not least of all the suspense of which dress I wore to the rehearsal!
I wore… THIS ONE. Pardon the horrible picture of me, but that’s really the only decent picture of me in the dress that I got!
As for the wedding, it was one of my best nights of my life! Obviously my wedding was the best, but this wedding isn’t far behind.
Amanda had, from day 1 of wedding planning, the greatest, most laid back attitude that a bride can have. That really set the tone for the wedding festivities.
There are some things about this wedding that really made it stand out to me (and I’m sure others as well).
- The attire! Amanda told us which colors she wanted us to wear and then said we could pick our own dresses. We all purchases ones from J-Crew and the groomsmen wore blue plaid shirts with khakis. It felt like a summer picnic!
- The ring bearers were the nephews of the groom and they were so adorable. When they asked the older boy what he wanted to carry down the aisle, he said, “a sword.” And so he did. May I present to you the “the monster” and “the monster tamer!”
- The handmade bouquets—without real flowers! Amanda made each of the bridesmaids bouquets out of fabric and yarn with buttons for detail. However, hers was made out of some silk flowers and broaches. Absolutely stunning!
- The company! No one can make a wedding like my friends from Pitt. And absolutely no one can get me dancing except my friends from Pitt. It’s just too fun not to stay on the dance floor all night. And they know I can’t dance, so it’s not like I’m revealing a deep, dark secret! They love me anyway!
(Do I spy Cucina Amanda??)
Yes! Yes, I do!
Unfortunately, the groomsman I was paired with seemed less than thrilled to be my escort.
I’m not too offended. I think he’ll come around.
Anyhow, I know this is a quick run down, but there are just too many wonderful things to say about this wedding! So I’ll say only this:
Congrats, Jeff and Amanda! I love you both and I’m excited to see what all God has in store for you! I’m honored to be your friend!
