My Hips Don’t Lie

Is anyone else watching the NHL awards???
DAN BYLSMA FOR JACK ADAMS! ::crosses fingers::
Ok, anyhow. In less exciting news…
I’m RUNNING AGAIN!
I’m still pretty sure that it was tendonitis and so I have been really focusing on loosening the muscle connected to it.
Three simple steps:
FOAM ROLLER!
I have to name this guy. I should at least know his name if he’s spending that much time on my upper thigh. But regardless, it works.
I love these. In the few runs that I’ve done, these have been the easier to run in. They keep me in proper running form and cause significantly decreased impact.
ULTRASOUND!!
This is a hand-held ultra-sound machine. A co-worker bought it when she was having a lot of foot trouble. Now that she’s healed, I asked if I could borrow it. I just started using it, but I definitely feel my leg loosen up afterwards.
Next steps:
1) Keep it up! If my tendon or muscle tightens, I’m in pain again. If I keep it loose, I am pain free. I’m needing to loosen it less and less, which is a good sign, but I don’t want to be lax about it.
2) Try running in my Brooks. I’m not ready to run a marathon in my VFF, so I need to transition to either my Defyance or Green Silence. We’ll see which pairs feels the best.
That leads me to my next point…
3) Sign up for the Columbus Marathon! I think I’m confident that my hip is fine and just needed some tender loving care. The price of the marathon goes up after the 30th, so I will make my decision by then. But it’s looking good.
