Book Lists

So, in addition to a running kick, I’m also on a book kick. I will go months without picking up a book, but then I will read one book and then I can’t. stop. reading. That’s where I’m at right now.

Since Christmas I’ve read:

The Divergent Series (re-read the first two) by Veronica Roth
And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini
Inferno by Dan Brown
The Giver by Lois Lowry
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

And I’m currently reading The Book Thief by Markus Zusak.

From this list, currently The Book Thief is my favorite (I’m only 25% of the way through, so don’t spoil it for me), and The Giver was my least favorite. I thought it was a good story but it didn’t keep my attention. Perhaps that’s because I read it right after Inferno, which is an action-packed page turner? Regardless, I don’t know if I want to read the other books in the series.

I have to know: what’s on your reading list? What should I add to mine? Tell me! I have the first “Maze Runner” book to read next, but that’s just fluff.

  1. Loved The Book Thief. May I recommend The Story of Edgar Sawtelle and Prodigal Summer if you want to keep up your streak?!

I loved the Book Thief! Such a good story…really want to see the movie when it comes out on DVD. Right now I’m reading the Wolf of Wall Street, which is both fascinating (to me) and incredibly disturbing from the stand point that it’s a true story, and I can’t fathom how someone could act this way. I read Running and Being by George Sheehan not too long ago and liked it. It really made me think about running, why I do it, and all of the things that it teaches me; it’s not just about running, either. There’s a fair amount of life philosophy in it, which I thought was a nice twist.

I have read all of those books in the past year and am also currently reading The Book Thief! I really like it so far, but it’s definitely not what I thought it would be like. I also didn’t really love And The Mountains Echoed. Definitely my least favorite of his 3 books.

I really liked the book thief. I’m trying to remember, have you read the Hunger Games trilogy? I didn’t think I would like it, but I loved it!

  5. Do you have a Goodreads account? I highly recommend! It’s fun to see what others are reading, track what you’re reading (esp if you read a ton like me and can’t keep them all straight…I love seeing how I rated things for when I give recommendations to others), and get recommendations based on what you like!!
